Project Threadbare Benefit: Strangers At Home: Experiences Of South Asian And Indigenous Peoples - Jan 9 (Toronto)

Mark this date!!
FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 2004
7-11 PM
HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, 10 TRINITY SQUARE

STRANGERS AT HOME: EXPERIENCES OF SOUTH ASIAN AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

- An evening of films, music and musings, in solidarity with indigenous and migrant peoples all over the world.
- Organized in conjunction with the 4TH WORLD SOCIAL FORUM
in Mumbai, India, January 16-21, 2004.

The World Social Form is a movement of ideas that aim to build strategies of resistance. Building networks of resistance requires us to understand the underpinning connections in the collective histories of exclusion of marginalized people all over the world. The colonial state was built on slavery and genocide of indigenous peoples; the neo-colonial state continues to practice its strategies of exclusion on the immigrant population through racist immigration policies and violation of civil rights. The deadly combination of state terrorism and venture capital continues to crush and strip people of their inalienable
rights.

Come, share and strategize against collective experiences of marginalization.
